How does Click to Pay work? #
Click to Pay is basically a further development of credit card tokens. Tokens are used to secure cardholder data and make recurring payments easier. Instead of the sensitive card data, a merchant works with an encrypted token as a placeholder that is connected to the customer’s bank and ensures that the card is active and legitimate.
The token is mainly used to increase security and reduce fraud attempts. However, positive side-effects are the easier checkout experience and the reduction of involuntary churn since the token automatically updates whenever the card is renewed or updated. The customer experience at the checkout with Click to Pay and Frisbii #
The consumer requires a credit card with enabled C2P options (e.g. Mastercard, Visa, etc.).*
- The customer enters their email address at checkout.
- Frisbii’s payment gateway checks whether the email is associated with a Click to Pay profile.
- The customer is prompted to verify their identity via a one-time password (OTP) sent to their email.
- The customer’s saved cards are displayed for selection.
- Customer is redirected to VISA verification screen to verify.
- After verification, the customer selects a card and completes the payment.
*If the customer is not enrolled in express checkout, they will simply see the normal card entry form to fill out and can continue their regular payment workflow. It is possible to give these customers the option to enroll their card in Click to Pay during checkout.
