Founded in 1979 as a holiday home rental agency by the couple Kjeld and Margit Andersen, Sol og Strand Feriehusudlejning A/S is one of the biggest Danish-owned holiday home rental agencies.
In 2019, the founders decided to donate Sol & Strand to a charity foundation that manages Sol & Strand and uses all profits to donate to local and national Danish charity organizations (e.g. Bedre Psykiatri, SMIL Fonden, Danske Hospitalsklovne, Psykiatrifonden, Røde Kors, etc.). This way, Kjeld and Margit made sure that their agency would stay under Danish ownership and be a positive influence.

Conversion increase with SEPA
Having previously used bank payments for German customers, Sol & Strand was looking for a way to create a less disruptive payment process. With bank payments, German customers had to leave the Sol & Strand platform to log in to their bank accounts, type in all account details for the rental home and wait at least 3-5 business days until the payment was accepted in the system.
This caused numerous disadvantages:
- Lack of flexibility when renting short-notice
- Higher churn and cancellation rate
- Decreased customer experience, since the booking could not be confirmed until the payment was processed
- A disrupted booking experience
After evaluating different payment options, Sol & Strand opted for SEPA payments via the payment gateway from Frisbii. Due to the popularity among German customers, the almost immediate payment confirmation and the much lower payment fees compared to other popular payment methods such as PayPal.
SEPA enables direct card payments via the payment gateway which is integrated into the Sol & Strand platform and therefore supports a seamless booking experience.
